Hospitals are increasingly asked to account for their environmental impact alongside their clinical outcomes. A shared vocabulary is what keeps that conversation from stalling on terminology before it reaches the board.
Healthcare
Cover what a hospital team needs first — why sustainability is a care-quality issue, how the hospital works as a connected system, the basic language of carbon measurement, and what SHC certification actually asks. No sustainability background assumed, and none needed.
Some of the organizations we’ve worked with.

Outcomes
Make the case for sustainability to your own board — patients, cost, resilience, and reputation.
See the hospital as a connected system, and find the points where change has the most effect.
Speak the basic language of measurement: greenhouse gases, GWP, CO2e, MTCO2e, and the three scopes.
Describe what SHC certification asks of a hospital, and how its two-year review works.
Leave with one concrete 30-day action to bring back to your own hospital.
Hospitals are increasingly asked to account for their environmental impact alongside their clinical outcomes. A shared vocabulary is what keeps that conversation from stalling on terminology before it reaches the board.
Hospital leaders, quality and accreditation staff, and facilities managers preparing their organization for sustainability work and SHC readiness. Built for the board-facing professional who knows their building and their teams but does not yet share a sustainability vocabulary, and is stuck on where to start and how to raise it with leadership. No background assumed, and none needed.
What’s inside
The case you would make to your own board: patients, cost, resilience, reputation.
Flows, leverage points, and where care and carbon meet.
GWP, MTCO2e, and the three scopes — the shared language every certification rests on.
Its three parts, the choose-three-of-six rule, and how the two-year review works.
One real system through a full certification cycle, and the pattern you can borrow.

The Sustainable Hospital Blueprint is the full applied practitioner series — five courses that take a team from shared language to a capstone your hospital can act on.
Why trust this
Green My Experience is a specialist sustainability training platform, and part of the Overview Effect sustainability portfolio. This series is built around SHC certification — what it asks of a hospital, how its review works, and what a hospital has to be able to show. Every course is built by a dedicated learning team and grounded in real hospital systems, so what you learn is practical, current, and defensible.
GME's learning initiatives are led by Overview Effect, the founder-led sustainability portfolio behind the platform. Its leadership brings hands-on experience across sustainability strategy, carbon markets, and building purpose-driven businesses — so the training reflects how sustainability actually works in practice, not just in theory.
Your courses are created by GME's learning team — instructional designers and sustainability specialists who turn complex frameworks into practical, applied learning you can use the same week.
Your certificate
Finish the course and you receive a Green My Experience Certificate of Completion, issued instantly. Add it to your LinkedIn profile and résumé, share it with clients and employers, and use it as evidence of verified sustainability training. There is no final exam in this course; the series Capstone is the summative piece.
This certifies you, not your hospital. The hospital earns SHC certification; this series prepares the practitioner who helps it get there.

FAQ
It is framed around the case you would actually make inside a hospital, so you leave able to explain why sustainability is a care-quality issue and where in your own building a change would matter most — not just define terms. You finish with one concrete 30-day action.
You. The hospital is what earns SHC certification; this series prepares the practitioner who helps it get there. This course gives you a Certificate of Completion and the language and business case the rest of the work depends on.
This course covers the United States track (SHC). The systems thinking and carbon language apply anywhere, but the certification content is US-specific. An international track (HSC) is planned as a later addition to the series.
About 45 to 55 minutes across five short lessons, designed for one or two sittings. Lifetime access means you can come back to it anytime.
Lifetime access. Enroll once and return whenever you need it — handy as a refresher and for onboarding new team members later.
None. This is the foundation course for the series and assumes no sustainability background — it builds the vocabulary from zero. If you work in a hospital and know your own operation, that is all you need.
Short readings paired with a knowledge check in each lesson, plus scenario questions that put you in a decision a hospital actually faces. There is no exam and the checks are not scored — they are there to help you learn.
