Series
A five-course program that takes a hospital team from no shared sustainability vocabulary to a facility-specific, certification-ready plan. Your people learn to measure a real carbon baseline, cut it where it matters most, and stand up the governance an SHC review expects, all without ever putting clinical care second.
This series prepares hospital teams for SHC readiness. It doesn't confer certification: your Certificate of Completion recognizes you, and SHC is awarded to the hospital by the Joint Commission.

Why it matters now
The Joint Commission's Sustainable Healthcare Certification gives US hospitals a formal way to show sustainability progress, and the first hospitals have already earned it. A review asks for evidence: a measured baseline, real targets, and governance that lasts. This series builds the people who can produce that evidence, starting today with Course 1.
The series is built around SHC certification — what it asks of a hospital, how its review works, and what a hospital has to be able to show. Course 1 builds the shared language every later course depends on; the rest turn it into practice.
Where your hospital lands
The path
The foundation. Why sustainability is a care-quality issue, the hospital as a system, the language of carbon measurement, and what SHC asks.
Energy and water, cleaner power, and safe air. Ends by starting your own facility baseline from real utility data.
Emissions from care itself and the movement around a hospital: anesthetic gases, inhalers, fleet, and logistics. Clinical judgment always comes first.
The measurement core: build the emissions inventory, then waste, plastics, purchasing, and honest reporting.
The people and governance that make it last, ending in the capstone: your hospital's own readiness Blueprint.
Each course is published as it is released, and the path above is updated with it.
The essentials
What sets it apart
This series builds the practitioner who gets it there: the person who can measure the baseline, lead the reductions, and stand up the governance a review expects. That capability is worth more to a hospital than any single certificate, because it is what keeps the program alive between reviews and ready for the next one. Clinical lessons are authored with qualified specialists, and clinical judgment always comes first. Your team finishes not with a piece of paper, but with the skill to earn one, and a working Blueprint already in hand.
Why trust this
Green My Experience is a specialist sustainability training platform, and part of the Overview Effect sustainability portfolio. This series is built around SHC certification — what it asks of a hospital, how its review works, and what a hospital has to be able to show. Every course is built by a dedicated learning team and grounded in real hospital systems, so what you learn is practical, current, and defensible.
GME's learning initiatives are led by Overview Effect, the founder-led sustainability portfolio behind the platform. Its leadership brings hands-on experience across sustainability strategy, carbon markets, and building purpose-driven businesses — so the training reflects how sustainability actually works in practice, not just in theory.
Your courses are created by GME's learning team — instructional designers and sustainability specialists who turn complex frameworks into practical, applied learning you can use the same week.
Your certificate
Finish the course and you receive a Green My Experience Certificate of Completion, issued instantly. Add it to your LinkedIn profile and résumé, share it with clients and employers, and use it as evidence of verified sustainability training. There is no final exam in this course; the series Capstone is the summative piece.
This certifies you, not your hospital. The hospital earns SHC certification; this series prepares the practitioner who helps it get there.
FAQ
Yes, that's how the series is designed. Each course builds on the one before it, and the capstone in Course 5 draws on the baseline and inventory work from Courses 2 and 4.
Yes. Course 1 builds the shared vocabulary every later course relies on. Courses 2 to 5 will be added to this page as each one launches.
No. SHC is awarded to the hospital by the Joint Commission. Each course gives you a Certificate of Completion, and the series prepares you to lead your hospital's readiness work.
Not for Course 1. From Course 2 on, utility bills (and later waste-hauler invoices) help you build your own baseline, but you can complete the courses without them and return to your data later.
The current track follows the US Joint Commission SHC. A Costa Rica and Latin America track is planned to follow.
